I have noticed in my search for other Brands, Organizations, and Artists to “fan” that there are many people using the Personal Profiles instead of Fan Pages. I am leery about doing “friend requests” for them, as they would be able to see certain information that is meant for my friends and not for a company I want to get updates from.
I think that as a business owner I would not want to be someone’s friend instead of their fan if I don’t know them. I would not want to know what goes on in their personal life if I don’t have a personal level with them to invest in.
There are some things that they, as a company, are missing with the Personal Profile that they would get with the Fan Page.
- The ability to make their pages creative and the ability to draw in interaction (that I feel does not happen with a Profile).
- The ability to track and get data from their traffic. Did you know that Facebook now sends the admins of a Page the traffic information of your Page, weekly? Below is what you can track with their weekly email:
# Fans this week (# total Fans)
# Wall Posts, Comments, and Likes this week (# last week)
# Visits to your page this week (# Visits last week)
- It really helps you with some information that you can use to better communicate with your fans.
Do companies who do that really not understand Facebook and Social Media?
Do they think (or do you think) that in doing so it makes them more personable?
